The Government of India has introduced a new digital arrival system for entering the country. Starting this month, all foreign national travelers to India will have the option to submit an electronic arrival (disembarkation) form instead of the traditional paper form.

The e-arrival card can be filled out and submitted online through the Indian visa website (https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/), the Indian Bureau of Immigration website (http://boi.gov.in), and the Indian visa Su-Swagatam mobile app up to 72 hours prior to travel.

The paper form will continue to be accepted for the next six months, although the Government of India recommends use of the digital option for a faster and more efficient customer experience.

U.S. citizens should note that this arrival form change is separate from the e-visa application process. U.S. citizen travelers are now able to travel to India with a valid e-visa (or physical visa from an Indian embassy/consulate) AND a valid e-arrival form.

All travelers to India should consult with their airlines to confirm entry requirements at the time of ticket purchase.
